Welcome! I am so happy you are here.

Hi I am Erin Ellsworth
BSN, RN, Legal Nurse Consultant,
Founder of The Legal Nurse Collective.
I spent 17 years at the bedside before transitioning into Legal Nurse Consulting. This was a move that completely changed my life, my schedule, and my family’s future.
After 7 years of Legal Nurse Consulting, I was receiving so many messages about how to get started so I decided to create a guide to help Nurses get started affordably. Over 2.5 years, it has completely turned into a full blown mentorship because as I began answering questions and helping, nurses began to ask for more and more.
I currently have 22 years as a Nurse (17 years at the bedside), 9 years as a Legal Nurse Consultant, and 2.5 years building a mentorship business.
Now I primarily teach nurses how to build flexible, freedom-filled businesses using their nursing experience online through Legal Nurse Consulting.
With the right strategy, mentorship, and support, you can turn your experience into a business that fits your life.
Legal Nurse Consultant
FAQS
What is a Legal Nurse Consultant?
A Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) is a registered nurse (diploma, ADN, BSN, MSN, etc) who uses their medical knowledge to assist attorneys with medically related legal cases. This can include reviewing medical records, creating chronologies, identifying missing documentation, and helping attorneys better understand the medical aspects of a case.
Do I need Legal Nurse Consultant certification
to get started?
No. Certification nor a certificate is not required to begin working as a Legal Nurse Consultant. Many nurses choose to pursue certification later, but it is not necessary to start learning, networking, and building experience.
Do I need bedside nursing experience?
Yes ! 100 % bedside experience is extremely valuable in Legal Nurse Consulting because attorneys are looking for nurses with real clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills. You need at least 2 years to START but I never suggest anyone leave the bedside
before FIVE years.
Can I start Legal Nurse Consulting
while still working bedside?
Absolutely. Many nurses begin learning and building their business while still working full-time or PRN bedside.
How long does it take to get your first case?
Every nurse’s journey is different. Some nurses begin networking and building momentum quickly, while others take more time depending on consistency, marketing, and confidence putting themselves out there. The fastest I have had someone get their first case is 28 days.
Do I need to spend tens of thousands of dollars to become a Legal Nurse Consultant?
No. One of the biggest misconceptions in this industry is that you need to spend $10K+ to get started. You need education, strategy, mentorship, and consistency not unnecessary overwhelm or debt.
What makes your mentorship different?
My mentorship is intentionally kept small so nurses receive direct support, personalized guidance, honest answers, and real mentorship throughout the process of building their business. I only onboard five nurses per month.
MENTORSHIP FAQs
Does your mentorship include education?
Yes. The mentorship includes 13 self paced educational modules with multiple videos, templates, walkthroughs, and resources designed to take you from the very beginning stages of Legal Nurse Consulting all the way through understanding how to realistically build and market your business. Everything you need to know to get started and begin work as an LNC.
Inside the mentorship, you will learn what Legal Nurse Consulting is and how it works; where and how to find opportunities and cases; how to write reports and chronologies; how to market yourself and network with attorneys; different types of LNC tasks and workflows; how to use programs such as Word, Adobe, Canva, and other important websites/platforms commonly used in this field.
The goal is not just education, but helping you understand how to actually apply it realistically while building confidence along the way and doing it the most affordable way.
Can I get mentorship without education because I already completed a course on LNC?
Yes You can. You must be able to prove you have completed a course with documentation. You can sign up for a 5 call bundle and choose to become part of the community portion.
Is mentorship right for beginners?
Yes. Many nurses join mentorship while they are still in the learning stage and wanting guidance on where to start.
How many mentorship spots
do you have each month?
I intentionally keep mentorship small so each nurse receives individualized support and direct access to me. I only take FIVE nurses per month to keep it very personalized.
Is this self-paced or live support?
Mentorship includes both self paced educational resources in the form of videos & templates and personalized LIVE individual and group support.
